Welcome to Ladera Heights
With gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean (and the 36-hole Fox Hills golf course) and its handsome collection of mid-century modern and ranch-style homes, Ladera Heights has always been known as the neighborhood where African American doctors and lawyers lived. Today, their number is augmented by an impressive list of entertainment celebrities, sports stars, and other affluent residents attracted to the appealing privacy of an area that is so centrally located. Relatively undeveloped until the late 1940s, Ladera Heights expanded quickly in the 1950s.
Architects such as Robert L. Earl and Charles W. Wong and builder Homer Valentine left their imprint on a young neighborhood and many of their homes remain intact today. Protected from the intense hubbub of the greater metropolis, the Ladera Heights area enjoys a warm and neighborly feeling of community.
